State of Michigan Incentives

The Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) formally adopted the rules governing interconnection and net metering standards. It also approved modified uniform forms to be used on an interim basis for Category 1 (20 kilowatts and under) interconnection and net metering standards

Net Metering – Based on this ruling, utility customers having renewable electric generation systems of 20 kw and under will be eligible for "true" net metering. This means that for every Kwh of electricity produced in excess of that customr's consumption, an equivalent credit will be given on the customer's next monthly bill.

Electric utilities covered by the order follow:

Residential Personal Tax Credit ($75 to $150) - Depending on your filing status and income level, you may claim a state tax credit for installing qualified energy efficient home improvements. This credit is limited to insulation, water heaters, furnaces, windows, refrigerators, cloth washers and dishwashers.
